Bryan Sturtevant: Co-founder and Executive Director of Good Neighbors International. I went to Haiti for the first time in September of 1988 for one week on a short missions trip. I went back for another week in November of 1988 and decided to return in March 1989 for one year. While there I directed a project to build a high school and trade school. I left in early February 1990 and returned several times during the next year. I was married in August of 1991 and had to put the work in Haiti on hold while raising my children. My children are teens now and a blessing to me. I am able to pursue the vision I have to educate the children of Haiti which began in February of 2003.
Effective February 2012 Bryan has resigned his position with Good Neighbors International to pursue other endeavors.
Joan Sturtevant: I received a teaching degree from Central Michigan University in 1982 and taught for 9 years before becoming a stay at home mom. My first trip to Haiti was in the spring of 2008. My heart was broken and forever changed by what I saw and experienced. I fell in love with the Haitian people and have a yearning passion to do something that will make a lasting difference in the lives and living conditions of the Haitian people.
Mike DeRiso: Co-founder and President of Good Neighbors International,
Maria DeRiso: My degree is in education and I taught grades PreK-1 for 15 years. So when Bryan told Mike and I about the school in Ounaminthe the decision to get involved was a "no brainer." I don't really consider myself a missionary. I am just an ordinary person whose life is forever changed by witnessing extraordinary people living in extreme poverty. After 4 trips to Haiti I can easily picture myself living there and teaching English as a second language.
Emmanuel Almezy: serves as our chauffeur, guide, body guard, money exchanger and concierge in Haiti.
