There is no electricity available to the majority of the country. As a result Haitians will buy chickens or pigs etc and let them run freely in their yards until the day they plan to serve it for dinner.

We often see many children without clothes. Also notice the small black kite the boy on the right is holding. This kite was made out of an old trash bag. He was able to get this kite to fly very high.

Haitians love to sit outside in the evening and visit.
With no reliable or available way to dispose of trash it is often thrown on the ground and then raked into piles.
Haitians are talented craftsmen. This gentleman was so proud of all his wonderful work on this beautiful headboard.

Many roads and bridges are in disrepair. They are slowly being rebuilt by an outside country.
